Allen & Heath Model1.4 Mixer for DJ
Description
With model 1 we reach the peak of the design of pure analog DJ mixers. Now we take the performance of Model 1 to an ultra compact 4-channel design, ideal for use in home studios or as the analog mixer with ultimate turning capability... so you can take your analogue core wherever you go.
Designed by Andy Rigby-Jones and co-designed by Richie Hawtin with commentary from artists, clubs and engineers, Model 1.4 features the same uncompromising approach to building quality, precision and detail that puts the Model 1 in a class of its own.
Model 1.4 can be used independently or combined with a Model1 using unique mixer link functionality to deliver an unmatched 10-channel live mixing experience.
2 stereo shipments
The two AUX controls send the channel signal to the AUX mix outputs for use with external effects processors or, in some applications, local monitors. AUX 1 offers Pre or Post Fade while AUX 2 is internally configured for Post Fader.
2 Stereo returns
Two basic stereo channels to use as return inputs from external effect processors or other sources. Each return has TRIM to adjust the return signal, the input drive circuit and the CUE routing both A CUE A and A CUE B. Each return also has measurement for visual feedback of the signal level, a rotary level attenuator to adjust the amount of mixing and Return 1 combined. -2 low cut equalizer routing and master filter.
2 high performance phono preamps
2 high-performance turntable inputs, optimized for the club's environment to minimize tonal imbalance between vinyl and digital audio and eliminate sub-frequency feedback. Each phono input has its own individual turntable grounding for added flexibility.
studio quality faders
60mm custom TKD faders. These twin rail faders have been carefully chosen to ensure long life and smooth operation and feature a heaviness feeling for greater precision.
Precision Sculpture Equalizer
Sculpt is a semi-parametric sweep bell filter and consists of two controls, FREQ that sets the center frequency and CUT/BOOST that adjusts the gain or attenuation at this frequency. The cut/increase level is asymmetric; Maximum reinforcement is limited to +8 dB, while the cut extends to -20 dB. Sculpt has a wide Q and a frequency range covering almost seven octaves.
Contour of low and high pass filters
As the name implies, these two controls allow you to “outline” the frequency range of the audio signal. They consist of low Q, high pass, and low pass filters designed to not add color to the sound as they scroll through their frequency range.
analog overdrive
A unique feature on each input, the Drive Control. This control allows the user to adjust the level at which the channel preamplifier cuts the input signal, thus creating a harmonic distortion as a creative effect.
double cue
Two independent CUE systems, A and B. Cue A is directed to the right-hand headphone monitor and the CUE B is directed to the left-hand headphone monitor. The DualCue system makes it much easier for two DJs to act together on the mixer in "back2back" settings, since each one can select a separate channel to monitor without interfering with the other. This feature also helps DJs communicate with each other in a soft and natural way.
Mixer link
A system that allows you to link several mixers, either to use them with two or more interpreters, or as a way to expand the number of channels. When linked to each other, the mixers share a common balanced mix that powers the PA and cabin monitors. In addition, the two CUE systems are united allowing interactive indications between multiple interpreters.
Balanced mix bus
Fully balanced main mix bus (usually only found on very high-end analog studio consoles), resulting in >110 dB dynamic range, improved buzz rejection, lower noise and crosstalk.
High and low pass resonant filter master
The master filter consists of a high-pass filter (HPF), a low-pass filter (LPF), and a resonance control (RES) to adjust the sharpness of the high-pass filter. The master filter can be used as a sweep frequency performance effect or as a preset frequency mixing tool to instantly cut the low or high frequencies of any routed channel to the filter. The signals can be routed to the MF by means of the filter selection switch found on each channel.
three-band master eq
Three-band master equalizer with asymmetric cut and enhancement, -20/+6dB which can be used as a performance effect, as well as frequency correction tool.
Two-band cab EQ
A 2-band equalizer that allows the user to adjust the frequency response of the Booth monitors according to their own preferences.
100% analog
Soft and intuitive controls combined with warm pure analog circuits.
zero crossing circuit
All internal routing uses our zero-cross detection system that helps minimize audio switching artifacts for channel filter selection, master filter activation/deactivation, and master equalizer activation/deactivation. This system allows you to use each of these functions quickly and intuitively as interpretation effects.
quality components
Wonderfully soft components, each of which controls a specific function for intuitive creative performances on the go.
external power supply
Powered by an external 90W and 24V universal voltage external power supply. Internally, the 24 volts of the external supply are converted to just under +/- 20 V for the analog power rails through the use of high switching technology Frequency, giving model 1 the highest signal margin of any professional mixer, regardless of its application.
Power supply input lock
The Model 1.4 external power supply ends with a locking connector for reliability and avoid accidental disconnections.
built in the UK
Built in the UK with our partners Digico and Allen & Heath using an alloy/steel chassis for maximum strength and a minimum optimized weight for tours, clubs and performance situations.
D-sub input
A fully balanced Tascam DB25 input that receives four stereo channels for quick connections to external sound cards and greater flexibility in club installations.
D-sub output
TASCAM DB25 Output Fully Balanced to send Master, AUX 1 and 2 Sends and Cue B channels through a single connector for quick connections to external sound cards and greater flexibility in club installations.
Front mounted recording output
Mounted on the front panel, at the top of the Master section, the RECORD OUT connector - TRS 3.5 mm jack feeds the POST MASTER EQ signal as a pre-fader recording output. The nominal level is –2dB
